Meander was considered an important symbol in Ancient Greece, as it used to symbolize infinity and friendship. The term "Meander" derives from the Meander River located in present-day Turkey, known to the Ancient Greeks as "Μαίανδρος" (pronounced "Meandros"), characterized by a very convoluted path along the lower reach.
